What Are the Same-Sex Wedding Trend in 2023? We Have a List.

There has been a lot of discussion surrounding same-sex marriage since it became legal in many states. Regardless, there has been a huge increase in the number of same-sex marriages taking place around the world. This is mainly due to the rise of the gay rights movement and social acceptance.

We’ve seen a lot of changes over the years in the way people see LGBTQ couples getting married, but there’s no denying that same-sex weddings are here to stay. With many same-sex couples planning their weddings in 2023, here are eight of the latest same-sex wedding trends in 2023!

1. Skipping the Engagement Proposal

Many same-sex couples have managed to stay together for decades before thinking about marriage. In some instances, couples choose to leave the engagement ceremony out of the equation entirely, and simply take their commitment to the next logical step. If you’d like to do away with the traditional ‘bent-one-knee’ proposal, you can simply go ring shopping together; this way you’ll both find what you like.

Furthermore, a classic engagement ring might not suit everyone, but then there’s more you can do to celebrate your new status as an engaged couple. You could each give your partner a gift, swap pieces of jewelry with one another, or get matching tattoos.

2. Adventure Elopement Wedding

Adventure elopements are becoming more common than ever before. Many same-sex couples choose to combine them into a honeymoon, and travel to different places around the world to get married, specifically in cities and countries where same-sex weddings are allowed. These trips often last anywhere from a few days to a week and offer couples the chance to get away together. These trips include activities such as hiking a glacier, spending time in a wine country, a long sunset hike in California, or going on a road trip across the US.

3. More Games and Fun Events

It is illustrious, impressive, and awe-inspiring to host an outdoor wedding ceremony, especially when the weather is perfect. Same-sex couples might be looking into some new ways to entertain guests. Bounce houses for adults might become a popular part of wedding receptions, as well as volleyball courts, human foosball, glow-in-dark giant bowling, and other games for adults.

4. More Interactive Activities

In 2023, photobooths will still exist, but new technology will make them more fun and personalized. They’ll likely continue to be used as social gathering tools with photo-sharing apps such as Snapchat and Instagram.

As part of the reception, guests can also participate in other exciting activities including make-your-own bouquets, cigar rollers, magicians, poets on the spot, wire sculpture artists, live painters, aerialists, and S’mores bars. Name it, and you can have it.

5. Personalized Rings

Many couples used to make decisions about their wedding based on tradition or how their families would feel. Same-sex couples are known to make choices that go against the norm and are determined by what each individual prefers.

For instance, there are no rules on what ring same-sex couples should choose for their wedding. Experts at Southern Living say that when it comes to engagement rings, there is a trend in colored diamonds as well as other stones like rubies and sapphires. They are becoming more popular as couples choose them to show off their “lovely” personalities. Rubies sparkle more than diamonds because they’re made up of smaller gemstones inside a clear stone. Emeralds are also gaining in popularity — they symbolize love and loyalty.

6. Comfortable Wedding Attire

In 2023, it looks like most lesbian couples will be wearing fewer white veils and more colorful ones. There will also be more custom-made clothes and pants as opposed to traditional wedding dresses.

There are more options than ever for comfortable shoes for weddings. Many gays and lesbians choose flats or other comfortable footwear for their wedding day. Socks are going out of style, and many gay men are choosing to wear them less.

7. Brighter Colors

Wedding theme might be more colorful than ever. Florals are still going strong, but there will be a lot of bright colors.

From the dresses and suits to the flowers and the cake, you’ll see colors everywhere. Wedding trends are shifting away from classic white towards bright hues, vibrant shades, and patterns. Your wedding won’t feel stale or boring if your theme is colorful and weddings will feel more celebratory and exciting than ever before

Same-sex weddings can’t go wrong with the rainbow palette, as it is also the color of the LGBTQ flag.

8. Playful Food

Guests are looking forward to viewing your wedding, but they’re also hoping that you’ll be serving them something delicious. By 2023, we may be seeing couples infusing their menus with both cultural dishes and dishes they can connect with emotionally.

One perfect example is putting a food truck on site. Food trucks have made a huge impact in recent years as more people choose to get away from traditional sit-down dinners. These mobile units can be used to serve drinks and snacks before the reception starts, then offer a full meal once the festivities begin. This keeps guests busy throughout the night and ensures they’re never bored.

Weddings are not as normal as they were before because of some changes due to the pandemic. Couples tried new things, including many unique ideas that we haven’t seen before, and surely, they had a lot of fun trying them. For the year 2023, there will be more creativity, innovation, and imagination that will be put into planning weddings. Wedding traditions will continue to change as couples keep on looking for new ways to celebrate their love and commitment.
