WHEN RULES ARE MEANT TO BE BROKEN. Have to share an experience we had last night at a wedding here. It was made clear to all guests that they need to show their VAX cards and ID prior to entering this event. As women are known to do for parties, we change to fancier purses, not always taking wallets, etc. Our friend s (husband and wife) were attendees of this wedding, who drove from NJ to Brooklyn for it. Wife friend realizes she brought her VAX card to show, but had left her wallet behind in the purse transfer. The manager would NOT let this couple attend because she couldn't prove with an "official" ID, that she was who she was on the VAX card. Even after the host/hostess confirmed who she was, and about 10 others giving confirmation of her identity. No go. We even searched for a notary among the guests to write up a petition to allow them in, to no avail. After an hour of deliberation and still blocking them, the host suggested a table be put just outside the venue on the front patio, to allow this couple to eat, drink and enjoy the event from a distance. We understand the need to be vigilant about Covid issues, but also need to remember to be HUMAN BEINGS!!!! This was the most absurd choice by The Picnic House Management, such inflexibility, that I hope someone reads this and decides to go elsewhere for their wedding plans. It shows a real lack of intelligence, compassion for a simple mistake...and I feel sorry for the individuals making this decision last night who offended all of us, the guests and hosts treating for the event.
I attended a wedding reception the Picnic House. The venue is gorgeous. The staff from entry to the end of the evening were fabulous! One critique. When there is adverse weather conditions beyond anyone's control that makes it difficult to get out of the park to get to the train, your car or ride share. It would be a plus if there was a contingency plan in place to help guests get out. This is a specially true for older guests and those who may need physical assistance. Again, a wonderful and gorgeous venue.
I was celebrating in the park but did not have reason to enter the building
It’s right close to the barbecue area which is great. It’s well kept and is very clean.
Nice area! There is a men’s and women’s room plus a handicapped restroom in the front which is never used!
