DJ Gatsby / Jon DJed our wedding just this past weekend, and we couldn't be more pleased with how it went! The 2 main points to convey about Jon are 1) He really, really, really wanted us to be happy with his Dj-ing and he really, really, REALLY wanted our guests to have a good time. 2) He is just a really great DJ. He knows how to spin and transition songs seamlessly (and in an order that make sense). And he knows how to read a crowd - that coupled with the above points made him a PHENOMENAL DJ for our wedding.
Relatively speaking, we were a little late in the game for securing a DJ, so we were extremely excited (and lucky) to find Jon when we did. From the get go, he was extremely sweet and professional, and made it very clear that he wanted us to be happy and our guests to have a great time. His responsiveness was prompt and complete. He had a very thorough song and preference list, and we felt like he really listened to us and gave us everything that we wanted and more.
Our ceremony music went off without a hitch, music during dinner was really enjoyable - the right relaxed tempo, and I even recognized a couple of songs that are old favorites of mine (but not super well known), and we had a solid dance party happen after dinner. He even checked in with me a couple of times throughout the night to make sure that he was on the right path - and I had nothing but encouragement to give him.
We have received so many compliments on just how good our DJ was. A couple of my relatives, who have been to a lot of weddings and are hard to please, even dared to call him the *best* wedding DJ that they have ever experienced. So thank you, thank you, thank you so much DJ Gatsby for helping make our wedding fun and memorable for my husband, myself, and our guests!

We hired DJ Gatsby (Jon) for our wedding at Mercury Hall and was extremely pleased with his professionalism and talent for making our event flow seamlessly!
I’m a bit of a control freak, and Jon was was super flexible with my musical selection. I had a very specific playlist, as well as a very specific “don’t” playlist, and he executed it perfectly! He was also great at communicating and very responsive, which is a big plus. Also, bonus points for being a dapper dresser!
Another plus was that he handled all of the AV equipment needs (speakers, mics, etc), so that was one less thing that I had to deal with, which I appreciated.
I would definitely recommend DJ Gatsby for your wedding or event - he’s a pro!

DJ Gatsby is one of the best! My wedding planning company, Olive & Belle, has worked with him a handful of times. He is amazingly talented and passionate about his job. I have seen him go above-and-beyond for his clients to make the night perfect. He is always very responsive and thorough with the timelines...making my job as a wedding planner all that much easier :-)

DJ Gatsby did our wedding and was phenomenal. He was responsive for the entire time leading up to the wedding, edited our first dance song perfectly, and played everything we wanted along with some nice additions of his own. I would HIGHLY recommend him for any event, especially a wedding.

We would HIGHLY recommend Jon if you are looking at DJs....We would even recommend him over most wedding bands out there too!

We couldn't have been happier with Jon DJ-ing our wedding (7/1/17) at the Driskill. We heard from our wedding planner that he was the best in Austin and he did not disappoint.
Jon met with us in person about 8 months out to get a feel for what we liked, didn't like, and other things we wanted for the night. We gave him some direction on what genres and artists we liked and any specific songs that were must plays, but ultimately trusted his expertise to choose the right song at the right time.
One of the main reasons we hired Jon was that he is an actual DJ by trade who puts a focus on the music first and being an MC second. He also is one of the best at mixing in and out of songs, but knows how to read the room and will keep a good song going if it's a hit or transition out of one quicker if it's a flop.
Jon was also very accommodating and creative as we had one specific request for him to do a "Jump Around" mastermix which he mixed in and out of 5 or 6 songs that all fell within the same theme and it was awesome!!!
The icing on the cake was that even after Jon announced the last song of the night, he kept the party going as our wedding planner told him she needed a few more minutes to clear some cars for our grand exit. He took it in stride, had no complaints, and played a few more high energy songs that felt like an encore to all of us.
We've run into Jon at some other events around Austin and he still remembers us, steps away from his booth and comes to say hi and catch up. He's the nicest guy and you'd be mistaken not to book him for your wedding or event.
